History of bbq-rubs
Barbecue-rubs are what makes barbecue taste so special .What is a bbq-dry-rub?
Its a blend of spices that are mixed together and applied to the meat a day before preferably or at least a few hours before grilling or smoking that meat.
Where did they come from?
We needed to make the meat taste good before there was electricity and that where the spices came in.
In the middle ages before we had refrigerators meat used to spoil easily in the spring and summer months and spices were used to make the meat taste better especially before the meat had spoiled so much that it could not be eaten. The king and queen got really mad having to eat lost tasting meats.
They scared the pants of their cooks to make the food taste better. So then you had all these explorers traveling from Europe to Asia to trade and they discovered great spices in India,Asia and the middle east and brought them back to Europe
You have to wonder how many people got sick from eating spoiled meat laced with spices.
Thank the lord that we live in an age where we have refrigerators and freezers to keep our ribs from spoiling
That is another reason that meat was smoked in order to preserve it when their was no refrigeration. The smoke had an antibacterial effect and helped prevent bacterial growth.
But it still wasn’t enough and people had to eat their meats quickly so that it would not go to waste after a few days.
So what are the spices used in rubs. There are just several spices that are used in
American bbq-rubs that I can think off

Asian rubs add several exotic spices such as ginger, curry powder, and 5 spice powder
How are the proportions that you mix in the rub? well everyone is different in their taste.
